DEFINISI TERMOSTAT
Contoh termostat adalah termostat bimetal. Sewaktu ruangan masih dingin, keping bimetal lurus, kontak terhubung dengan arus listrik. Ketika suhu ruang panas (suhu tertentu), keping bimetal melengkung dan akan memisahkan kontak, kemudian memutuskan aliran listrik. Jadi, termostat mempunyai prinsip kerja yang hampir sama dengan saklar otomatis.

CARA LAIN MENGUKUR DIODA
Selain dengan memakai ohmmeter untuk mengukun balk atau nusaknya dioda tersebut, dapat juga kita mengukur dioda yang tahan terhadap anus besar dengan memakai alat tes sederhana (alat ukur sedenhana) yang terbuat dari 2 buah batu batenai, bola lampu senter 2,8 volt, dan sepasang testpen. Ketiga komponen tersebut dirangkai menjadi alat tes sederhana.
Keadaan
Gambar di atas menunjukkan silikon dalam keadaan baik. Dengan
mempelajari pninsip kerja komponen tersebut, pembaca yang tidak
mempunyai ohmmeter dapat juga menentukan baik atau rusaknya suatu
silikon, dan juga dapat menentukan kaki anoda dan kaki katoda suatu
dioda. Jika hasil pengetesan dengan alat tes sederhana pada Gambar a dan
b di atas menunjukkan bahwa bola lampu tetap hidup walaupun arah kaki
silikon sudah dites secara bolak-balik, maka artinya pada silikon
tensebut tenjadi hubungan singkat sehingga komponen tersebut harus
dikeluarkan dari pemakaiannya. Dan seterusnya jika bola lampu tidak
pernah hidup setelah dioda itu dites secara bolak-balik, maka dioda itu
sudah rusak karena putus. Untuk jelasnya dapat dicoba sendiri. Demikian
juga pengukuran led dengan alat ukur sederhana tersebut dapat
menunjukkan keterangan bahwa led dapat mengeluarkan sinar jika hubungan
seri disusun seperti Gambar a dan led tidak dapat hidup jika hubungan
serinya seperti Gambar b. Untuk jelasnya dapat dicoba sendiri.
Pengukuran led dengan ohmmeter harus mempergunakan batas ukur x1k (2
kOhm hingga 20 MOhm). Jadi dengan memakai ohmmeter dan alat ukun
sederhana dengan bola lampu tersebut, kita dapat rnenentukan kaki anoda
dan kaki katoda suatu dioda serta dapat juga menentukan balk atau
rusaknya komponen tersebut dengan ohmmeter.
